Elderberry Syrup

A delicious and potent immune-supporting syrup, perfect for cold and flu season.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried elderberries
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • ¼ cup raw local honey
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Cardamom seed pods
  • Cloves
  • Fresh ginger

Instructions

  1. Place berries in an uncovered saucepan and pour boiling water over them
  2. Cover and let soak overnight
  3. The next day, simmer the berries for 30 minutes
  4. Purée the warm berries in a blender, adding remaining ingredients as you blend
  5. Pour the syrup into a clean bottle
  6. Store it in the refrigerator

Usage

Take 1-2 tablespoons daily for immune support, or more frequently at the first sign of illness.

Note: Do not give raw honey to children under 1 year old.
